Hey Everyone!

Check out this great article written by Cory O’Brien from the Boulder Weekly. It’s the coming of age story of BAS as a band and the evolution of the music into what it is now.

“When we started out, we weren’t really invested in the band,” admits Keim. “We would play anything. But eventually, we realized that by being the people who would play anything, we weren’t really doing anything right.”

As the guys have aged, they have found the beauty of simplicity in their last two albums and created their own original sound. In comparing their most recent albums, O’Brien stated, “Champion of Disaster strips things down even further, trading the dizzying energy and old-time spirit of genre-hoppers like Punchline or 2008’s The Caged Bird for subtle moodiness and emotional punch. Champion of Disaster is a grounded, beautiful morsel of indie-folk that finds Boulder Acoustic Society honing in on a sound and then exploring the possibilities within that sound’s framework.”

Is Champion of Disaster the turning point for the band’s career? Read the full article by clicking the link below to find out.

It’s true….. Call him/her what you will, Black Betty or Kevin was unable to make it up the ice capped Interstate 80 on the way to Hood River. Visiblility was SO bad that we didn’t see the sign that said “Chain Laws in Effect.” Such an mishap scored us a $240 citation, $200 tow truck bill, $100 for new tire chains, $20 for Chain rubber band things……

Oh and for the promoters out there that google image search for our promo photo….. here it is…. it’s titled THE BOULDER ACOUSTIC SOCIETY. So hopefully now it will appear in google image search and we’ll no longer show up to a gig with a promo photo from 5 years ago. I mean that with all due respect.

To Oregon We Go

February 28th, 2011

Thanks everyone who came out to the Larimer Lounge! Thank you Eilliott Moonshine and Kal Cahoone also. What a great show! We got flashed and everything…. now we know we’re real rock stars.

Next up: Gorge Uke Festival in Hood River, OR with SO many great artists like Victoria Vox, James Hill, Moe Dixon, Danielle Ate The Sandwich, The Canotes, Lil’ Rev, and Craig Chee!

We’re going to be doing a neat little thing that helps us offset our touring costs a bit while promoting our friends’ music. The way it works is we’ll be giving updates about the incredible bands we play with across the country. We’ll post a link to their music on our pages and sites. Then if you like them as much as we do and decide to purchase their music, then we get a small commission from it…… which puts gas in our tank. Mostly, we just want to help promote all the great bands that we hear on a daily basis. Here are the bands we’ll be playing with this weekend at the Gorge Uke Fest:

We’re Back!

February 10th, 2011

It’s true, we took a very needed two month break over the holidays! Since we performed 110 performances in 2010 and drove over 50k miles, I say we deserved it eh?

Well 2010 is behind us now and we’ll go ahead and tack that up in the successful year column. Our 6th release “Champion Of Disaster” is still receiving domestic and international radio attention and our buddies at Piedmont Talent and working hard to fill our 2011 Schedule. We already have more than 30 shows scheduled in 11 states for the upcoming year, and haven’t even really dug into booking the “tour season” yet.

There’s already talk about a new album for us this year….. A LIVE album…… Recorded here in DENVER, at a small 100 seat performing arts center…… would YOU want to be a part of that? Email Us to reserve your seats. Date and ticket prices are TBD.

In the mean time, check out our upcoming shows! The next one is in DENVER at the Larimer Lounge with Kal Cahoone and Elliot Moonshine & the Ghost.
