Coal, Cotton & Dust Tour

Boulder Acoustic Society’s music is haunted by the past and focused on the future.
It’s contemporary-folk that draws from Appalachian roots, gritty gospel and today’s urban soundscape. BAS merges musical tradition and innovation, producing an unforgettable live entertainment experience.
With their presentation of Coal, Cotton and Dust: Songs of American Protest, BAS explores the rich history of protest and social change in American Folk Music. From slaves to coal miners to freedom riders, Americans have always proclaimed their beliefs and musicians have always been there to tell the story. Not only does BAS pay tribute to this cultural heritage, they also use their own generation’s voice as they incorporate original music into the show. With video imagery and spoken word, BAS’ unique musical arrangements will take the audience on a journey through the folk, gospel and roots music that tells the story of America.
This show will be presented in limited venues in Fall/Winter 2010/2011. It is perfect for theaters, performing arts centers, folk venues and clubs. Below are videos from a performance at the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix, AZ.
